Santa Barbara in the Fall of 2014
The weather has been so beautiful this August and September, with sunny skies and good surf action from the storms down along the Pacific Coast off Mexico. Lots of sea life moving close to shore because of very little fresh water run off and squid boats line up along the coast line catching squid just a few hundred yards offshore. The Humpback whales are in areas that are unusually close to shore in waters shallow for them. The back country/foothills are dry but not baked into tinder by extreme heat, so there is abundance of deer and other animals, however they are around watering areas this time of the year, and particularly this very dry year. A view from Francheschi Park gives a overlook to Downtown Santa Barbara and a full view of Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Islands and even sometimes, with atmosphere distortion, San Miguel Island. If you like the Santa Barbara Courthouse settings, it is a great time to use the Mural Room, as the restoration has been completed and the Clock Tower renovated, and the Fountain at the entrance completed. The courthouse grounds hosts many different plant species and it is a nice little tour to take during the heat of the mid-day sun. Now that the summer vacationers are gone, the parks and beaches and foothills present plenty of opportunity and choices to have an outdoor Wedding or Reception with a most pleasurable view and surroundings.
